Renaissance

Initial glance and I am propelled into this world, his world.
Dichotomies.

I feel pain for the character; a kind of embryonic / chrysalis state he is in?
His shielding hands compel us into his pain.
Vulnerability.

Metamorphosis is happening...

A wing sprouting at his heel?
Something dripping from the foot (blood?).
A web on the right of his body, perhaps symbolising his past state, the Old Life, a life of constraints.
And light emanating from his left leg, the New beautiful Life.

This is a work of his (Re-)emergence and as it's called; a Renaissance.

So many foot prints on the sand.
Is he the last of his kind?
Is he the first to undergo this transfiguration/transformation ?
Where is everyone?
And, why is there no one to aid him?
Isolation.
Fear.
Anticipation of magical something blossoming.

The grey, bleak sandy earth, not inspiring (nor necessary) to his future life (remnants of his past).
And the sun lit , cloudless sky at the horizon; is an allegory for hope and unfolding of new joys and endless potentialities.

While painful and haunting, this is sublimely and radiantly hopeful.

Yours is an intriguing, angelically inspired and beautiful rendering of Spirit's Rebirth.
